All tiny devices or tools worn, carried, or kept accessible in pockets, holsters, or backpacks daily to handle routine activities or use in unanticipated circumstances or crises are collectively called Everyday Carry, or EDC.
Ironically, my interest in daily carry has prevented me from having a proper EDC. Over the years, I’ve accumulated a collection of equipment that enables me to replace essential parts based on the duties I anticipate encountering. The categories of items I regularly carry are listed below. While some of these things might seem a little odd, they all function to form a “carry system” that aids me in solving 90% of the issues I face daily.

I knew I wanted an EDC toolkit that would be small enough to fit in my pocket and be capable of doing most light- to medium-duty chores when I started building it. With this kit, I do not intend to disassemble and rebuild a car, but I would like to be able to tighten a loose screw on my office chair. A Leatherman Signal and a Leatherman bit kit served as the foundation for this kit. I combine these two products; I get pliers, different pieces, an extra knife, a whistle, and even a firestarter. 90% of the time, even with all these tools, I use them to tighten my camera’s baseplate. I also carry a cheap pen, a little pry bar (great for scraping objects), and a pair of collapsible tweezers in addition to the multi-tool.
First Aid Kit for Individuals (IFAK) :
First, although I do not have a medical license, I have gained some knowledge. One thing I’ve discovered is that you will eventually inadvertently cut yourself if you use a knife a lot. Having an essential “ouch pouch” on hand is excellent if you know how to treat cuts, have children, or want to save someone’s life. I, therefore, always have a little first aid kit with bandages, Neosporin, pain and allergy medications, and a few floss snips with me. We never reach inside this pouch on an ideal day, but mishaps do occur. I frequently get splinters when moving pallets and cut my finger on boxes more than knives. I’m pleased to say that, I still have all ten fingers and have not had any illnesses thanks to the supplies in this kit.

Even though we live in a digital world, I’ve discovered that writing notes and using checklists increase my productivity. My preference is for pens to have a minimum length of 5″ and to be able to use a gel refill cartridge. I prefer the traditional Field Notes notebook style with a lined or dot grid page. Similar to the pens above, there are a variety of themes and designs available, ranging from cut-up posters to national parks to solid colors. My point is that, regardless of your style, you ought to be able to locate a pocket notebook that complements it or makes an impression.

The short answer is that phone flashlights could be better, and there can be situations where you need to use your flashlight while on the phone. Of course, you could turn on the flashlight and put the call on speaker, but having a dedicated flashlight is always helpful.
Jokes aside, having a tiny flashlight on a keychain or in my pocket has come in convenient many times, whether it’s to locate a misplaced screw beneath a shelf or in case the power unexpectedly goes out.

I’m glad my current carry ecosystem could be more flawless because it took me years to get it right. I wouldn’t have to test out new equipment if I could find the “ideal” set of things.
